Instructions

Tools and Materials Required

Tools:

  • Power drill with masonry and standard bits
  • Spirit level
  • Measuring tape
  • Pencil or marker
  • Rubber mallet
  • Screwdriver
  • Saw (for trimming panels or rails, if necessary)
  • Materials:
  • Composite fencing boards
  • Retrofit post adaptors
  • Brackets and screws
  • Base and top rails

Step 1: Prepare the Area

  1. Inspect the Concrete Posts: Ensure the existing concrete posts are stable and level. Clean the posts to remove dirt, debris, or moss.
  2. Mark Alignment: Use a string line to ensure all posts are aligned at the correct height.

Step 2: Attach Retrofit Post Adaptors

  1. Position the Adaptor: Place the retrofit post adaptor on the concrete post, ensuring it is centered.
  2. Drill Holes for Fixings: Use a masonry drill bit to create holes in the concrete post at the adaptor's mounting points.
  3. Secure the Adaptor: Attach the adaptor to the concrete post using the provided screws and anchors.
Tighten screws firmly and ensure the adaptor is plumb with a spirit level.

Step 3: Install Base Rails

  1. Attach Base Rail to Adaptors: Secure the base rail to the retrofit adaptors using brackets and screws. Ensure the rail is level and aligned with adjacent posts.
  2. Trim Rails (if needed): Use a saw to cut the rail to fit between non-standard post spacings.

Step 4: Fit Composite Fencing Boards

  1. Insert the First Board: Slide the first composite fencing board into the base rail. Check that it is level and seated securely.
  2. Stack Additional Boards: Continue stacking boards, interlocking them snugly as you go. Periodically check alignment and use a rubber mallet gently if needed to adjust.

Step 5: Attach the Top Rail

  1. Position the Top Rail: Place the top rail over the upper edge of the stacked composite boards.
  2. Secure the Top Rail: Fix the top rail to the adaptors using brackets and screws.

Step 6: Finishing Touches

  1. Install Decorative Caps (if applicable): Attach caps to the top of each adaptor for a polished look.
  2. Inspect the Installation: Ensure all components are securely attached and properly aligned.
  3. Clean the Fence: Wipe down the boards to remove dust or installation debris.

Maintenance Tips

  • Clean the fence periodically with mild soap and water.
  • Inspect adaptors and screws annually, tightening or replacing as needed.
  • Avoid using abrasive tools or cleaners that could damage the composite material.
